About Wiley Hammond

Wiley Hammond was in the 5th. KY Regiment, Co. A, a private with the Orphan Brigade. He was killed in the Battle at Ivy Point, Salyersville, KY on 10 Oct. 1863. He is buried at Salyersville with the other unknown soldiers. The story of the Orphan Brigade is found in the book, The Kentucky Confederates Who Couldn't Go Home. Wiley had taken out a license to marry Telitha Gullett on 23 September 1863, Magoffin Co., KY but it was never solemnized.
