About Wilfred Arthur (Laurier) Morison

Wilfred was a boy soprano who sang all over the world, including at Westminster Abbey and Carnegie Hall. At the age of 13, in 1907, he was paid $500/week for a year-long tour of America and Australia... a fortune. He enlisted in the army during WW1 and caught influenza while still in barracks. He never made it to Europe. He became hooked on motorcycles which he raced in Toronto, and he had a sidecar in which he would give rides to his younger brother, Milt. He married Maud Gordon in the early 20's, and had two children, who died shortly after birth. Somewhere along the way he contracted syphilis, which affected his brain, and he was committed to the Toronto Insane Asylum in 1930, where he lived for 27 years, until his death.
