Might the town where he was born be Kiskinizs, district Szikszo, back then Komitat Abauj-Torna, now Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen? Confirmed: Kiskinizs ist also called Kis Kinyes, and jewish births should be registered in Szikszo.

Abauj-Torna was part of the Tokaj wine region. Jews developed high quality tokaj wine, but were later restricted, and the Szikszo region was one of the places were jews could settle and make wine.

Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein of Szikszo faught for orthodoxy. Rabbi Shaul Ehrenfeld and Menachem Sik also served as Rabbis in Szikszo. Not far from Szikszo, in Abaujszanto, there was a Yeshiva headad by Rabbi Deutsch.

In Szikszo, there was a battle in 1848, Austrians against Hungarian nationalists. This might have been a reason to leave the region.
