Catharina Maria Brits 1806 - 1897 d.o. Johannes Jacob Brits and Catharina Maria van Rensburg. Catharina Maria Brits was married to A WILLEM JACOBUS SMIT - no document to prove the age of CM Brits and W J Smit! when they got married. So who is the Willem Jacobus Smit that she married

I have sorted the children out according to baptism records on FS. They were:

2. Maria Magdalena Eliezabeth B 21/12/1834 Baptised 10/5/1835 Colesberg
3. Johanna Alettha Frederica B 5/10/1840 Baptised 8/8/1841 Colesberg
4. Willem Jacobus B 3/9/1841 Baptised 10/4/1842 Edinburg
5. Maria Aletta B 4/9/1843 Baptised 12/5/1844 Colesberg
6. Magdalena Isabella B 10/10/1847 Baptised 22/3/1848 Winburg Witnesses: Willem Jacobus Smit Fzoon & Aletta Wilhelmina Fourie
7. Roedolf Martinus B 1/10/1849 baptised 3/12/1849 Potchefstroom. Witnesses: Jacob Johannes Brits, Catharina Isabella J v Rensburg, Samuel Jacobus Smit & Maria Magd Smit.

My conclusion is that Catharina Maria Brits was not the same person as Catharina Magdalena Brits!
My 2nd conclusion is that both Catharina Maria Brits and Catharina Magdalena Brits were married to A WILLEM JACOBUS SMIT, but certainly not the same man!
