"William was an independent man, resisting the bailiff of the manor, and bringing suit against his neighbors when they infringed on his rights. He was stong, too, for he was elected dikeman 1531- (possibly 66 years old). There is kindliness and a love of his church reflected in his will, which was written a year before the Act of Supremacy and so before the Reformation, too. And he had a sense of humor; naming one of his horses "Little Pryn', The will was proved before Master John Pryn.
