William Raymond Ashmore Sr. 1905 ~ 2007 William Raymond Ashmore Sr. died peacefully June 21, 2007 at the Rocky Mountain Care facility in Clearfield, Utah where he resided with his wife Ella Mae. He was born April 21, 1905 in Es-tancia Valley, New Mexico. William has ten surviving children; four by his first wife Ola Belle Baker, two children by his wife Ella Mae, and four of Ella Mae's children that he adopted. The surviving children are: Wayland Ashmore (Viola) of Layton, Utah; William Ashmore (Dora) of Orem, Utah; Joyce Harrington of Holladay, Utah; William Ashmore Jr. (Dianne) of Apple Valley, Utah; Donald Fleming (Timi) of Illinois; Dean Conway (Laura) of Spanaway, Washington; Peggy Hess (Pete) of Price, Utah; Leland Ashmore of Price, Utah; James Ashmore (Kim) of Montana; and Luana White (Bob). William has one surviving brother, Hershel Ashmore of Warner, Oklahoma. His descendents total more than 350 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is remembered for his integrity and work ethic. Living during the Great Depression he understood the principle of self-reliance and always found work to provide for his wife and children. He was variously employed as a chef, salesman, small business owner, machine operator, and handyman. Because of employment needs he moved many times in Oklahoma, Arizona, California, Washington, Missouri, Texas, and Utah, always for the benefit of his family. William was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a high priest and has faithfully served as a missionary, branch president, group leader, teacher, and many other callings. At the age of 87 he and Ella Mae served a full-time mission for one year. The family expresses their heart-felt thanks to the wonderful staff of Rocky Mountain Care nursing home in Clearfield, Utah. Funeral services will be held Thurs-day, June 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Palmyra Stake 10th Ward, 381 East 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends may call at the chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, American Fork Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
