About William Baker

This 14-yr-old boy is buried in the Baker family cemetery in New Market, AL; but, no one alive today knows his connection to William and Hannah Baker - most likely NOT their son, because Hannah would have been 60-yrs old at his birth.

It's more likely that he was a son of one of William boys - Samuel, Henry Calvin, Jack Twitty, or Peter Skidmore and most probably the son of John "Jack" Twitty Baker and his wife Mary. The 1830 census shows they had two (2) sons "under the age of 5." George Washington Baker (1830-1857) we know is one of those two.

Samuel Baker already had a son named William that was born in 1818, and no males 10-15 yr column of 1840 census,

Henry Calvin did not marry until 1829 & only one male child in 1840 census (5-9 yrs),

Peter Skidmore is living at home in 1830 as "male 15-20, and his wife was born in 1817.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Sep 23 2021, 19:40:32 UTC
