William Baldwin, son of Matthias Baldwin and Mary Ross, lived and d. in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He m. with PHEBE SKINNER, of Springfield, New Jersey, whose mother before she married was Miss Ball, said to be a cousin of the mother of Gen. Washington. He was a carriage maker and a 'good man', called the 'father to the poor.' His kindness and benevolence seems to have been inherited by his son.

Children were: Cornelia, Sarah, Catharine Ross, Mary (m. Colton), Matthias W. (b. c1796), Mary Louisa, and Cecelia.of these, only Mary and Matthias W. appear to have married; rest died unm.....no dates of birth for any but Matthias.
