    John and his brother, William, emigrated from Ireland to Hanover TWP, Lanc aster, PA between 1728 and 1730. It is now Dauphin Co at the forks of Bea ver Creek near Laughlin, PA northeast of Harrisburg.

   William Barnett came with his brother, John, and their families to Lancast er Co. PA. "His farm 'Barnett's Conquest' lay within the lower forks of B eaver Creek, a few miles northeast of now Linglestown, PA. They located di rectly at the base of the Blue Mountains. Here Mr. Barnett bought a lar ge tract reaching from the forks Beaver Creek to the top of the Blue Mount ains. Here in the forks of Beaver Creek, he built, for that day, a lar ge log house, which stands firm and solid today (1882)".    In the name of God, Amen. I William Barnett in Hanover in the County of L ancaster being very sick and weak of body but inn perfect mind and memo ry thanks be given to God for it therefore calling to mind the mortali ty of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to d ie do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say princ ipally and first of all, I give bequeath and recommend my soul in to the h ands of God who gave it and as for my body I recommend it to the ear th to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discreti on of my executor and as for such worldly substance wherewith it hath plea sed God to bless me with in this life, I give bequeath and dispose of th em in the following manner and form I do depute Joseph my son to be hole a nd sole executor, I do further allow that Margaret my dearly beloved wi fe shall dwell with my son Joseph as long as she shall see cause and be pr ovided for with necessary provision by him and if she sees cause to dwe ll by herself She shall have a full third part of the whole esta te to be freely had used and disposed of by her and in case my wife Marga ret should out live my son Joseph that no claim be laid to her part by a ny but if my son Joseph does out live my wife Margaret at her death he m ay fully possess what was hers except what is sufficient for her decent bu rying - moreover I allow my son Joseph to give to my daughter Sara to t he value of four pounds in such goods as she wants, and can spare, and I f urther allow my son Joseph to give each one of his other sisters to the va lue of five shillings and I further allow my wife Margaret to have the u se and benefit of Margaret Colwell till she comes of age, and then she sa id Margaret Colwell must get a cow out of the estate. I further all ow my son Joseph to give his mother a horse to ride where she has occasi on while they keep together excepting against all former wills ma de by me and declaring this to be my last will and testament Given und er my hand and seal this third day of April in the year of our Lord one th ousand seven hundred and fifty two - note before signing I require W.
