Bateman, William (1824–69), Sergeant, Company G, Fourth Platoon, Cedar City. Samuel Pollock recalled traveling with William Bateman to Mountain Meadows. On the day of the final massacre, Bateman carried a white flag toward the emigrants’ camp, allowing John D. Lee to negotiate for their surrender.
