W. C. Blackwell - Former Yell County Representative

Funeral for William C Blackwell, 83, of Belleville who died January 27, was at 2 pm Monday in Belleville Baptist Church. Burial was in Upper Spring Creek Cemetery by Gardner Funeral Home.

He represented Yell County in the Arkansas House from 1923 to 1927, 1931 to 1933, and from 1953 to 1957. He also was sargeant-at-arms at several sessions of the legislature.

He was an agent for Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Co. and had been a member of the Arkansas Farmers Union for 65 years. He was a past member of the National Board of the Farmers Union and had served several years as Yell County President of the organization.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belleville and had been a Mason for 61 years.

Survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. A. B. Wells, Mrs. Anne Childress, and Mrs. Kenny Breshears of California, Mrs. Earl Barrick of Colorado and Mrs. Thurman Payne of Belleville; a brother, I. L. Blackwell of Batesville; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Tratcher of Batesville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
