William G. Branch was a soldier and a cabinetmaker, CabinetMaker 1900 -Co A 140 Ohio NG Inf Vol. (Civil War)
He married Charlotte V. Golding in Meigs County in 1862. They had five children.
Leader, 5-5-1910 An old soldier is mustered out and join the Great Army in the world beyond. Branch On Saturday last, William G. Branch passed away at his home on Lincoln Hill from heart trouble and dropsy at age 67 years. The deceased was born in Meigs Co. and spent practically all of his life in Pomeroy. He was an old soldier, having been a member of the 140th Regt. OVI He was a cabinet maker by trade, and was an energetic, industrious and honest citizen. He leaves a wife, 2 sons and 3 daughters to mourn their loss. Services were held at the Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Myers, Officiating. The Grand Army boys, of which he was a member, turned out in body to do him honor. Interment at Beech Grove Cemetery.
