William (89), was found murdered, allegedly by his domestic helper, with his hands and feet tied up, and a rag around his neck and his his mouth, at his home in Maple Road, Morningside, Durban. The windows had been broken and the burglar bars bent.
Police spokesman Captain Khephu Ndlovu, who was at the crime scene on Monday, said Daly usually deposited his church’s Sunday offerings at a bank on Monday mornings. “An already written-out deposit slip was found on him. He must have been on his way to the bank,” Ndlovu said.
William was most likely on his way to deposit money for his church when he was murdered in the garden of his Morningside home.
It has since emerged that Daly might have been killed by two vagrants who robbed him of R270 that he was due to deposit in a church account.
