William Downing

William Downing was the 9th of 12 children of Richard Downing and Mary Edge. He was born on the 29th of the 1st month of the year 1759 in Uwchlan Twp., in Chester County, Pennsylvania during the development of Colonial America.

As did numerous persons during this time, William as well as several of his siblings perished due to Small Pox, for which at that time was no treatment. It is believed all the small children (who died young, probably of Small Pox) of Mary and Richard are buried here.

William was 11 months old when he died.
