Obit from Smith and Sons.
WILLIAM E. ERDLY, 68, a resident of High Lake, was found dead at his home Monday, September 10, 2007.
He was born June 27, 1939 in Wolf Lake, Indiana a son of Evart F. and Pauline J. (Bair) Erdly. His formative years were spent in Wolf Lake. He graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1957 and later International Business College.
Following his discharge from the United States Army, he resided in Fort Wayne. He was employed at Maumee Valley Corp. from 1965 until 1985. He later returned to Wolf Lake, owning and operating Erdly's Bait Store from 1990 until 1998 when he began driving truck. He has made his home at High Lake since 2002.
His memberships include American Legion Post #246 in Albion and V.F.W. Post #4717 in Wolf Lake.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Timothy (Carol) Erdly and Todd (Laurie) Erdly, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Charles E. Erdly of Linton, Jimmy L. Erdly of Kimmell and David L. Erdly of Wolf Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kayanne Colen.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration gathering will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 at Wolf Lake V.F.W. Hall, 1278 S. U.S. 33, Wolf Lake.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
