About William Preston Floyd

From Descendants of John Floyd:

  • was born 1805 [682],[683], and
  • died Bef. 1860.
  • He married SARAH MOORE [684] 16 August 1829 [685].
    • She was born 11 August 1807 in Jefferson Co., KY [686].

In January 2004 I received the following very kind note from Marianne K. Werner:

"Hi Pat, There is so much to write.... I would like to know where you obtained your dates on Wm. Preston Floyd and Sarah? Some of mine are different. (Editor: from the date estimated by Anna Cartlidge for William, and then making Sarah three years younger; I expect Marianne's bible dates are better!) Mine came out of a family Bible. This has been a brick wall for me for years. I don't want to get too excited until I know for sure. I got into Genealogy about 8 years ago I think.... the family story of being related to Pocahontas. That started me.... I am from the FLOYD line. My mother was a Floyd, my maternal grandfather was Marion Floyd, son of George Floyd who was also a son of William Preston Floyd and Sarah Moore. According to my records they had several children. Besides Carrie and Lee I have John L., Alexander, Mary D., Effie, GEORGE, Calvin, Daniel, and Elizabeth B. My great grandfather was George.... I have proof of interment of Carrie E. Vance, Rachel Vance, Annie Vance, Elisha Vance, & Rachel Whipple Vance in Cincinnati, Ohio Also have pictures of lot and headstone of the Vances cemetery plot. Do you know where my William Preston might be buried? (Ed: I suspect in the Louisville area)

Also how would this connect us.? Thank you for writing back so quickly. Regards, Marianne"
