Even during the last five years of his life, when at times he was scarcely able, he insisted on attending the services and was taken to them.
Mr. Gable was well known to residents of East Main Street, particularly, having had a cheering word or smile for the many who passed that way during the days of his residence with his son. He had not been in good health for some time, and for the past five weeks had been seriously ill. His wife, who was Miss Sarah Haldeman, before their marriage in 1867, died in 1917.
Funeral services were largely attended and held at the home of his son, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and at 2 O'clock in the Lutheran Church, Rothsville. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery."
