Craig Sheldon's Note: William Howard snr.'s date of birth, c.1742 in Buckinghamshire, comes from an Ancestry.com users tree; he is also listed as the son of Abraham HOWARD and Mary ALDRIDGE, and married to Arabella ALRDIDGE; this is also largely consistent with the information provided in William Smith ELLIS' "Pedigree of Hoard or Howard", printed in the 1884 Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica, new series, vol. IV, edited by Dr. Joseph Jackson HOWARD. [It would be interesting to find out what the family connection between his wife and his mother was - Sharon 2014]
In addition to his son, William Howard SV/PROG, FamilySearch.org has records for four other children that seem to be the same family, all born to parents named William HOWARD and Arabella:
- Anne HOWARD, baptized 7 August 1768, Puttenham, Hertfordshire. Now, according to Wikipedia, Puttenham is in the Tring Rural Parish - which would definitely seem to link up Anne with her parents wedding in Tring, Hertfordshire on 2 Sept. 1767.
- Elizabeth HOWARD, daughter of William snr. and Arabella, born 25 Nov. 1770, christened 25 Dec. 1770, St. Mary, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
- William HOWARD - this is NOT the same person as our SV/PROG, but rather his short-lived elder brother. Born 4 Feb. 1773, Aylesbury, baptized 5 March 1773, and died sometime in early 1774; William was buried 20 March 1774 in Aylesbury.
- William HOWARD "1776 the son of William Howard (a Salesman) by Arabella, his wife born the 25th of October and baptised the 15th of November"
- Henry HOWARD , son of William snr. and Arabella, born 1 Dec 1778, christened 6 Jan. 1779, St. Mary, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire; he apparently died c.1852 in Clerkenwell, London.
