About William Henry Inman
William H. Inman died yesterday afternoon at 2:50 oâclock at his residence, 710 Peachtree Street. He had been in a dying condition since 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and although two or three times he rallied and displayed some signs of improvement, it was known that he could not successfully combat the ravages of disease.
He appeared to be better yesterday morning, but about 1 o'clock in the afternoon began to sink rapidly. He retained consciousness until a short time before death. When surrounded by his loving and sorrowful family.
The deceased had been in ill-health for several months and had not been engaged in active business. About three months ago he went to Elkin & Cooper's sanitarium and was thought to be improving.
Last Sunday he returned to his home and shortly afterwards was taken to his bed. He continued to grow worse and his condition soon became hopeless.
Mr. Inman was universally popular and the news of his death will carry sorrow to host of friends. He is survived by a wife and one child, Walker P. Inman, Jr. Mrs. Inman was formerly Miss Nanaleen Holt, of Macon. The marriage occurred in that city April 30, 1890.
Mr. Inman was 38 years of age and the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Walker P. Inman. He has one brother, John Walter Inman, of Augusta, and two sisters, Mrs. James R. Gray and Mrs. Morris Brandon, of this City. Prominent Cotton Merchant.
The deceased was born in Atlanta. His parents came here from Augusta immediately following the civil war. He was educated at Davidson college, North Carolina, and entered business in 1883 with the firm of S. M. Inman & Co. He later became a partner in the business and remained with the firm until its dissolution several years ago.
He then entered the cotton business with his brother, John Walter Inman, in Augusta, under the firm name of Inman & Co. He continued in the cotton business until his last illness forced him to abandon active work. The deceased was located in Atlanta and gave the business in this city his personal attention. His brother is in charge of the Augusta business. Mr. Inman was prominent and highly respected as a business man, and many merchants are counted among his close personal friends. Funeral Occurs Tomorrow.
The funeral will occur tomorrow morning. The funeral services will be conducted at 10 oâclock at the residence by Rev. C. P. Bridewell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, and Rev. Richard Orme Flynn, pastor of the North Avenue Presbyterian church. The interment will be in Oakland cemetery. The list of pallbearers has not been completed, but will be announced later.
