Note that there is some confusion between two separate men named William Jenkins who lived first in the Carolinas at the same time, and then in Kentucky at the same time, and who died at about the same time. The other William Jenkins who is often confused with, "Old Billy," was born 11 Nov 1783 in North Carolina to Jessie Jenkins and Martha House. He married Sarah Ann "Sally" Engler 11 Mar 1800 in Rowan, North Carolina and died in 1850; this family moved to Butler County, Kentucky and this William appears on census records there from 1810 to 1850.
Notes found on Familysearch have dates for, "Old Billy," as born in 1783 in South Carolina and dying in 1849 in Harlan County, Kentucky; however no sources were provided for these dates, which were provided by a descendent of the above William Jenkins, and whose apparent interest in providing these notes was to disambiguate between the two; no source was provided.)

William "OId Billy" Jenkins was born in South Carolina, between 1780-1790 (based on his age on the 1830 US census).
He married Elizabeth Williams Roark in 1803 in Kentucky.
