The following was taken from the Nov. 13, 1951 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Funeral services for William Locklear, 90, who died Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of his son, Roosevelt Locklear near Rowland, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Old Bethel Baptist church near Rowland. Rev. Fuller Lowry and Rev. Walter Smith will officiate and burial will be in Dogwood cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters Mrs. Rella Spaulding, Mrs. Mary J. Brooks, Mrs. Pearl Hunt and Mrs. Marie Locklear; three sons, Roosevelt, Flagley, and Ventiage Locklear, 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
- **NOTE: His birth date was taken from his NC death certificate. According to the 1900 Federal Census, his birth year was closer to 1873.
- *NOTE: His headstone is in the newer (upper) section of the cemetery, while his wife's headstone is in the older (in front of church) section.
- NOTE: His paternal grandfather, Isham Locklear, is buried at Prospect United Methodist Church in Maxton, NC. His maternal grandfather, Allen Lowry, is buried at Plesant Grove United Methodist Church (aka Allen Lowry Family Cemetery) in Rowland, NC.
