The relatives of Matt Bentley, residing here, were severely grieved and shocked last Friday evening when the news was wired to them that Mr. Bentley had been shot and killed at Ardmore [Carter County, Oklahoma], where he was living at the time. Mr. Bentley, it is stated, was shot by his stepdaughter, during a family altercation. We understand that the girl alleges that he was attacking her mother when she drew a gun and began shooting. Bentley was shot several times and only lived till the next morning. Both of the women, it is said, were shot, supposedly by accident when Mr. Bentley attempted to take the gun away from the young woman.

The corpse was shipped to Carter [Beckham County, Oklahoma]and interment took place at the Carter cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
