WILLIAM MAXWELL
William Maxwell is the brother of George Maxwell of Newark. The name of his mother is not known. On 28 September 1563 his brother George gave him an annualrent of ten merks, to be paid to him from the forty pound lands of old extent of Newark. The deed was drawn up in the Chapel at Newark. 28 September 1563: George Maxuell of Newerk gave sasine propriis manibus to William Maxuell his brother german, of an annualrent of 10 merks, payable furth of the £40 land of Newerk, old extent, with the pertinents, lying in the barony and shire of Renfrew. Done within the place of Newerk, in the chapel thereof. Witnesses: Sir John Robesoun, John Gilleis, John Edmestoun and William Lioun, fisher. Redeemable for 100 merks.
