St Charles Daily Cosmos Monitor December 10, 1923 Page 1 William Mitchell formerly of Elsberry died at St. Joseph's hospital Saturday night, December 8th, at 9 o'clock at the age of 81 years, two months and seven days. He came to St. Charles about a year ago and had been making his home with his daughter Mrs. Ada VanCleve and had been in very poor health ever since he came here. Besides Mrs. VanCleve he leaves another daughter, Mrs. Anna Hill of Cherokee, Iowa, and two sons, William and Charles of St. Charles and also several grandchildren. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence at 1226 North Fourth street to the Fifth Street Methodist Church where services were conducted by Rev. I. H. French, pastor of that congregation and burial made in the Oak Grove cemetery.
