About William Muir
WILLIAM MUIR
William Muir here treated is not the same person as William Mure, residenter in Glasgow
William Muir is the son of Robert Muir, merchant burgess of Glasgow, and his wife Jonet Findlay. He was born before 6 January 1657, the date upon which his baptism was registered at High Church parish in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow High Church Baptisms, 1654-70, reference OPR.644/1 50 64]
A date of death has not been identified for William Muir here treated but no provision was made for any surviving children in the testament dative of his deceased mother, and it is supposed, therefore, that William Muir must have died before his widowed father gave this up on 10 February 1666. [National Records of Scotland, Commissary Records of Scotland Testament Dative of Jonet Findlay, reference CC9/7/35 pp. 471-72]
