About William S. Nussbaum

DALTON -- William S. Nussbaum, 92, of Dalton, formerly of the Kidron area, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, after a period of declining health.

He was born near Kidron on July 15, 1920, to the late Samuel E. and Lina (Amstutz) Nussbaum and married Mildred Amstutz on May 27, 1944. She survives.

Willie retired from farming in 1977 and served as custodian of Kidron Mennonite Church for four years. He also had worked for Spidell Funeral Home for 22 years. He enjoyed woodworking and handcrafted many unique items in his wood shop on his lathe.

He was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church and sang with the Nussbaum Quartet for 50 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Fred (Janet) Nussbaum of Wooster, Jan (Dean) Falb of Orrville, Sheryl (Joe) Chupp of Fredericksburg, Barb (Wayne) Miller of Orrville and Mim (Mike) Lehman of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Jeni Mast, Kelli Dancy, Scott Nussbaum, Matt Falb, Joe Chupp, Jay Chupp, Anthony Miller, Celesta Young, Marcus Miller, Aleah Neuenschwander and Seth Lehman; great-grandchildren, Cody and Logan Mast, Jacobi Dancy, Brenden and Emma Pfeifer, Payton, Caity Stasko, Aaden and Kaelyn Miller, Aislynn Young, Grant and Lena Neuenschwander, Payton and Emmersyn Lehman; a sister, Esther Steffen of Dalton; and a brother-in-law, Clayton Geiser of Dalton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Della Geiser, Edna Hilty, Pauline Gerber and Verena Steiner; and brothers, Harvey and George Nussbaum.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, with pastors Carl Wiebe and Lydell Steiner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church or one hour prior to the services Monday.
