About William Olive
William OLIVE arrived in America around 1703. He arrived as an apprentice to a trade believed to be tanning and leather work. He served as an apprentice for seven years to repay the passage from England. The man who transported him received land from the government as payment on October 23, 1703.

"James Olive Family, Wake County , NC:
"James Olive, second son of William Olive (wife unnamed) was baptized 3 Oct 1713 at Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co. VA. Brothers: William, Edward and Alexander. Infants born in colonial Virginia had to be baptized by the Church of England/Prostant Episcopal. it took seven years of service to repay passage from England, so the "bound boy" was not the traditional James but his father William. The one who transported him to America received land on 23 October, 1703 (Patent bk. 9) Gloucester records burned in a fire in 1820 and again in Civil War times when stored in Richmond."
