About William Henry Pearn
Star, Issue 12617, 30 April 1919:
Mr William Pearn, a well-known Taranaki settler, whose death occurred recently, was born in Cornwall, and came to New Zealand by the William Bryan, the pioneer ship of the Plymouth Company of New Zealand, landing with his parents at Moturoa on March 31, 1841. He took part in the Maori troubles of 1860-66, and was a member of Major Atkinson’s company of Bushrangers. He was in the actions at Waireka and Mahoetahi. The late Mr Pearn leaves a widow (a daughter of another early settler, the late Mr Thomas Heale, who came out in the Oriental in 1841) and a family of ten—-two sons and eight daughters.
