About William Rufus Phillips
Price Phillips served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Married to Gertrude F.(Dunlap)Phillips, They had one daughter Dorothy Pauline (Phillips) Givens, two (2) son Gillis Preston Phillips and Woodrow Wilson Phillips. He was commonly called "Price" or Pricey" Phillips. His Father's name was Eli Phillips Sr & Mother Martha [York] Phillips. His brothers were Eli "Bud" Phillips, Jr , Lummie C. Phillips, and Linsey Phillips & one sister, Ida. He was borned and raised in Santa Rosa County, Florida. He later moved to Seminole, Alabama with his wife Gertie. Although he did not play any musical instruments he loved to listen to all types of music and to occasionally sing along.
Price Phillips was a very kind and gentle man who worked at a saw mill in Elsanor, AL. He never did learn to drive according to his daughter Jane and on Saturday morning like to go to the town of Robertsdale and socialize with his many friends and maybe he occasional have a sip of wine. He was well known for bring his grandchildren a brown sack with candy or other goodies. He was very much loved by all his family.
