William R. Finton

"The first election held was the first Monday in April of 1840. Elected were William Finton (Jr.), Treasurer; John Finton, Justice of the Peace...John Finton and Sarah Henderstot were the first married in the township, in the spring of 1838. The Finton's came in 1834, including Joseph [John], James and William. James brought trees from Ross County and planted the first orchard in Logan County."

Mary E. MacMullen was named as the third teacher in a school in Buffalo Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania. The school was abandoned in 1824. Her education and guidance were the reasons behind several of her sons becoming teachers, politicians, and justices of the peace. Pennsylvania archives place William as a member of the

Cumberland County Militia 1790 to 1800. William died from a fall against a loom. Mary died from a tumor and paralysis.
