About William Herman Raap
Willie H. Raap was born in Effington Township, Ottertail County on August 14, 1893, the son of John and Cathryn Raap. He attended school in this area and when a young man he went to North Dakota where he resided for a few years, coming back to Alexandria, Minn., which has since been his home.
Mr. Raap was employed by the Great Northern and the Soo Line Railway and was also engaged in carpenter work. On March 11, 1917 he was united in marriage to Alma Schulke. Mr. Raap passed away at the hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Wednesday, June 30, 1976 at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his wife, Alma; two sons and two daughters: Willie A. of Alexandria, Jerry of Alexandria, Margaret (Mrs. Trixie Quitmeyer) of Alexandria, Violet (Mrs. Andy Hanak) of Alexandria; also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 3, 1976, 10:30 a.m., Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Bruce Hanak, Jerry L. Raap, Richard Quitmeyer, Dennis Raap, Jack Quitmeyer,and Douglas Quitmeyer.
