Certified change of name -- "[f p. 29] -- Liberty November 15, 1819 I do hereby certify that from my infancy I was known by the name of William Rice. I enlisted by that name, served and was discharged by that name. And there was no distinction of the addition of the letter B until August 1781. I married and settled in Prince Edward County Virginia in a neighborhood where there were four of the same name and for distinction sake and to save the trouble I added the B and have written my name ever since. - Wm B Rice"
