NOTES FOR WILLIAM RICKETSON

William Ricketson settled first in Portsmouth, RI, where he hired a house of Giles Slocum. 19th 12th mo. 1682 - William Ricketson petitioned the Town Meetings of Portsmouth to set up a water mill for public use. 4th 11th mo. 1683- William Ricketson's name was "propounded' as a freeman of the town. 1684- Apparently Ricketson and his family had moved to Dartmouth, MA prior to the birth of their child who was born there. 1684-William Ricketson purchased 500 acres of land from Hannaniah Grant. and built a house on the east side of the road leading from South Westport to Horse Neck, about two miles south of the South Westport corner, and 300 yards east of the road.
