William Robert Eales 23, Farmer, together with his wife Sarah Moore 26, were members of Thomas Willson's Party of 307 Settlers on the La Belle Alliance.

Party originated from London.

Departed London, 12 February 1820. Arrived Table Bay, Cape Town on 2 May 1820. Final Port - Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth May 1820.

William Eales was born in April 1793.

He was the third child of Robert and Dinah Eales. They lived at the parish of Hurst (Reading) Berkshire in England.

William Eales came to South Africa as one of the 1820 Settlers - Willsons Party on La Belle Alliance 12 Feb 1820.

They settled on the north bank of the Torrens River, near Bathurst, but moved to Somerset East district in about April 1823.

He may have been married twice, First to Sarah Moore, then to Rachel Moore, or Rachel Moore may be Rachel Sarah Moore. There is mention of a marraige to Sarah Moore born in 1793 died 1824 (no mention of where) and then a marriage to Rachel Moore in Oct 1825. Rachel Moore was born in 1978 in England and died 21 June 1875 in Turkastad.

He died in Queenstown in 1869.
