17 February 1606: Extract commission by Ludovick, Duke of Lennox to Hugh Lord Loudoun, Walter, Commendator of Blantyre, Sir William Stuart of Traquair, Sir Matthew Stuart of Minto, Sir William Livingston of Kilsyth, John Houston of that ilk, Archibald Stuart of Castlemilk, James Wemyss of Bogie and Sir William Ruthven of Frieland or any five of them, the Commendator of Blantyre being always one, to appoint factors and chamberlains upon the Duke's estate under them and to call them to account, to enter and receive vassals and all other duties to manage the Duke's affairs in Scotland; registered in the Books of Session, 17 Feb 1606.
