William Ruthven

WILLIAM RUTHVEN

William Ruthven, here treated, is the son of William Ruthven, Writer in Edinburgh, and Marione Clerk (aka Marione Clerksone). He was born before 4 June 1613, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Edinburgh in Midlothian, Scotland. His baptismal record reads as follows: "Williame Ruthven wriater [and] Marione Clerk a. s. n. Williame w. Williame Ruthven of Ballindane [Note] and Johne Halyburtoun".
