Der Sendbote William Schmidt Jr.
William Schmidt born August 28, 1893, in Neu danzig, South Russia, went home at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning December 17, 1944. As an eight year old boy, together with his parents, he came to America and settled in Herreid, South Dakota. Here he spent his childhood and early youth years. In 1913, he came to Canada and lived on his father's farm in Alberta, near Burstall, Saskatchewan, until the time of his death. Ten years ago he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered. Since the spring of 1944, he gradually became weaker and on December 05, had to be taken to the hospital at Empress, Alberta. Here he died of a kidney ailment Although he had not attended church for many years, on New years Day, through listening to a church service on radio, he found Jesus. His constant wish on his death bed was to bid farewell to this earth. He died tired of life and we wish him eternal peace. He leaaves to mourn him one brother and other more distant relatives.
