William T. Rigg

Summary: William T. is born to unknown Rigg and Mariah (Berry) Rigg in ca 1867. In the the 1870 census, Wm and Mariah are living with her parents and siblings. Mariah soon marries Eliyah Inkso and starts another family. So, Wm hardly knew his father and his name isn't recorded. Wm marries Matilda Hitt in 1889 and starts a family which includes Juanita's mother, Edith. Wm is with his family in 1900, absent in 1910, divorced by 1920, and dead by 1930. We don't know where he's buried. Maybe at Foster's Chapel Cemetery.

I've been trying to figure out who William T. Rigg's father was. There's William D. Rigg in Robertson county who was born in 1867, to a William T. and Susan Matilda (Dayton) Rigg. But, this older Wm T. Is 13 years older than Mariah Berry, plus he's been married to Susan since about 1861. They have 2 more children older than Wm D. (Anne and George) and would have another son younger than Wm D named Osmer (1770). So, Wm T. Sr. would have had an affair with Mariah Berry while he was married to Susan, at about the time Wm D. was born. Seems unlikely, but, maybe. If it occurred, Mariah may have named her son to intentionally identify the baby's father. Wm. T.'s daughter, Edith, did this when she named her son Lee Eddie Hannon, Jr.
