William Way

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

William Way, (son of William Way and Fanny Roper) was b. March 25th., 1842 in Bradpole, bp. there on March 31st., 1842. On November 11th., 1869, in the parish church of Crewkerne, Somerset, Chard district (BMD ref: 5c / 746) William married Mary Elizabeth Poole (Polly), who had been born January 29th., 1842 in Kingstone, Somerset; Mary was the eldest daughter of Lionel Dewes Poole and Mary Rooke James. For the 1871 census, William 29 was a farmer of 540 acres, living in Stinsford Farm House, with his brother, Henry R. 20 (Mary with the new baby were in Crewkerne, with the Poole family); in the 1881 census, William 39 was a farmer of 500 acres in Beaminster Farm House, Dorset, living with Mary E. 37, Lionel 7 and Ethel M. 4; in the 1891 census, on West Hill Road, Bournemouth, Hants; in the 1901 census, William 59 was a retired farmer, living in Bournemouth, Hants, with Mary 57, Ethel 24 and Kate 25, visiting?; by the 1911 census, William 68 and Mary 67 were still living in Bournemouth, Hants. William 73 died in Christchurch district, Hants, about Q2 of 1915. Mary E. Way 80 died in Bramley, Yorkshire, on September 7th., 1924. William and Mary had issue:
