About William Samuel Whitely

Resided at Carlisle at the time of his baptism. Was living at Stephens Run St Elizabeth at the time of his death. Charlotte Richards seem to have lived as his common law wife as he never married.

On the 1845 Almanac on JamaicanFamiySearch there is an entry for W.S. Whiteley owning 10 acres in Happy District. This information was identified by Joseph Shumway. Since the children of William, with his partners Charlotte Richards & Deborah Powell were baptised at Happy Retreat, it makes sense that this was the property of William Samuel Whitely. Happy Retreat & Happy District must be the same place. Research is ongoing to discover how & when William acquired this property.
