In 1744, William moved with his wife and two children to Fairfax, London County, Virginia, where they had 8 more children. In 1762, they moved even further south to Cane Creek, North Carolina and had another child.

He married Margaret in 1739 at the Chester M.M. near Philadelphia, PA.

William made his will in Chatham County, N.C. August 21, 1773, naming his wife and 8 surviving children. Son Owen and son-in-law John Pike were named executors. The will was not recorded but was discovered in North Carolina Archives by Mr. William Perry Johnson, a genealogist who transcribed it for WIliam B. Lindley, LaJolla, CA. The latter is a descendent of John and Priscilla Williams Pike. It has been reproduced from the pages of Captain Isaac Williams. The text of the will can be seen at Raleigh, N.C. It is a prerevolutionary document of great and rare value to the Williams history.
