Willis Booker was hung by Union soldiers, as they were returning to the North. He either did not have gold or wouldn't tell them, therefore they hung him to try tto make him tell. After they left he was cut down, and he lived a few years longer, but his death was attribited to his injuries sustained during the hanging.
