About Rev. Willis Huddleston

Rev. Willis Huddleston was born in Van Buren County, Iowa on February 6, 1838, being one of the first white children born in Iowa territory. At 19, he was ordained in a tent, one half mile east of the present site of the Ohio Church where the Ohio Conference held its session in 1857. He was a schoolmate of Honorable J.N.W Rumple who afterward became a congressman and himself had a lawyer's bent of mind. He was married in 1857, to Mary Elizabeth Beck. Children are; Mrs. Cina C Stoner of this county, Josephine Rosenberger of Guthrie Center, Iowa, and William Huddleston, Seattle, Washington. Mr. Huddleston was an honored veteran of the Civil War having enlisted in the 15th Iowa Infantry in 1864. He was a valued member of the GAR post at Ladora. Note: Husband of Mary
