[NewMaster.FTW] A theological student, he joined the Confederate Army in the Civil War. He was wounded in sixteen places at Snicker's Gap, Virginia in August 1862. Fifteen shell splinters were removed, but the sixteenth was undiscovered. His arm was removed and great hopes were entertained for his recovery when the splinter caused his death from tetanus. He and his brother, A. Poinsette, were both members of Company G, Orr's Rifles. Their remains rest in the cemetery at Due West, SC.
