"W. S. CARLISLE, ATTORNEY, DIES South Bend Native Served In Assembly

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in St. Paul's Memorial Methodist Church for Woodson Studebaker Carlisle, 49 years old, an attorney here 25 years. He died last night of a heart ailment.

He had been a member of the law firm of Crumpacker, May, Carlisle and Beamer and it's predecessor firms since 1922. A graduate of Yale University, he served in the Navy during World War I. He was a native and lifelong resident of South Bend.

Elected on the Republican ticket, he served in the Indiana General Assembly as St. Joseph County representative in 1924 and 1925. He was president of the Indiana Tuberculosis Association in 1939 and twice was elected to the board of directors of the National Tuberculosis Association.

Mr. Carlisle was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and had served as president of the board of trustees of St. Paul's Church.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mary Carlisle; three sons [actually one son and two step-sons], two sisters and two brothers."

Woodson and the former Mary Lourinda (Poindexter) Rigby were married in 1932. Widowed for a year, Mary's first husband was Millard Frederick Rigby, advertising manager for the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend.
