Born March 10, 1783. Learned the hatters trade. Two years at sea when young. I have a sheet dated Feb. 1, 1801, of a record he kept while at sea. In 1803 he is in New York and writes home from Cherry Valley. He was working* there as a hatter. He returned to Connecticut, shortly after his father moved to Harwinton. He soon returned to New York, and in Oct., 1805, A\Tites from Starkey, stating he is married. He m. Phoebe (Velsey) Kinner, a widow with four children. Lived at Burdett, Cayuga, and Watkins. He had a hat store at the latter place. Bought and sold real estate, horses, cattle, etc. Enlisted for the war of 1812, but saw no active service. Practiced law in justice's courts. d. suddenly October 14, 1831, buried at Burdette, N.Y.,
