03/00 Per census he was a wholesale stationery dealer and his son Eddie was a salesman of stationery supplies...probably working for him. The Balch Institute has sent me a page from a brochure written in 1927 about Bnai Abraham that has a photo of Jacob and lists him as an original founder!
Albert Pransky remembers "uncle Yankel" as a tall, thin man...very learned..married to aunt Annie.
1912 Living at 634 South St....his naturalization petition was witnessed by a Jacob Berger living at 636 South St.
Per Nat.docs...he was living in Vilna prior to emigrating to the US! And was born in Ragula!!! (Abba's descendants seem to have heard only of Taurage, so my theory now is that Abba went to Taurage when he married Chava, (as did David when he married Dora Luntz) but the rest of the clan was from Ragula or elsewhere. Deb: correct!
Ragula, per shtetl finder, is also caled Iragola and Ragola....modern name Ariogala.
