Yule Julius Jacob Kilcher a.k.a. Yule Farenorth Kilcher 'Idealist, Journalist, Adventurer-
Born: 3/9/1913 Switzerland
late 1940's - Trekking across Alaska, Yule finds out that 600 acres could be obtained free if, that recipient agreed to homestead the property. Yule obtains his 600 acre parcel near the town of Homer, Alaska situated on the Kenai Penninsula.
Yule sends word home to his relatives in Switzerland - they do not come to Alaska; however Yules wife Ruth does!

The couple raise 8 children together on the 600 acre property.
Later Yule and Ruth divorce.
Yule becomes an Alaska State Delegate and later an Alaska State Senator 'http://www.alaska.edu/creatingalaska/constitutional-convention/delegates/kilcher/
Yule dies 12/8/1998 and is buried on the family property.
The Kilcher family, choose to live a simple life as homesteaders, using many traditional methods to help "make ends meet". Raising Cattle, Hunting, Fishing, etc.
The family owns a large building that serves as a venue for weddings, craft and hobby workshops, a starting point for hiking or even wild mushroom hunting.
Currently (2012-2013) the Discovery Channel televises a reality series known as "Alaska, the Last Frontier". Some of Yule and Ruth's children are featured on the program.
