Served in the Rev. War and had Eleven Children
Revolutionary War Soldier. 1776-1783. Served in the 3rd South Carolina Rangers in multiple battles.Zaccheus Roberts was the son of Edward Roberts of Pennsylvania. His mother's name is unknown. Zaccheus was a Revolutionary War Soldier who fought in South Carolina in the war for American Independence. He was in the Battle of Fort Moultrie, the Battle of Hanging Rock and the Battle of Eutaw Springs.
The pension application of Zaccheus's widow, Nancy Brashears Roberts states that he served under the following officers in the war: Capt. Eli Cashaw [Kershaw], Lt. Col. Mason [James Mayson] and Col. Thompson. Records for Capt. Kershaw and Lt. Col. Mason and Col. Thompson state that they were in the 3rd South Carolina Rangers.
