Zilpha is buried in DeKalb, IL - Elwood Cemetery also known as Oakwood on First Ave. Zilpha filed for divorce in 1922. The dirvorce was finalized in December 1925 The divorce papers state that Thurman drank too much. He beat Zilpha and tried to kill her. The family told her that the only way they would help her was to divorce Thurman. Six months after the divorce was finalized Zilpha died of a ruptured appendix - cause of death. Mary was born in July of 1924. Showing that she had continued to live with Thurman during the divorce procedings. The marriage date was found in the divorce papers (copy in the family history books) Found marriage lines inYorkville, Illinois court records. The obit stated -- Mrs. Zilpha Reinert, 34, died at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at St. Charles Hospital, after a weeks illness, following an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. Reinert was born Sept. 3, 1891 in DeKalb and had resided in Aurora for 15 years, living some time at 464 South Broadway. She is survived by two sons, Carter and Burdette, two daughters, Vina and Mary Ellen, two sisters, Mrs. Vina Anderson, of Aurora. and Mrs Hazel Nordwall, of Syracuse, NY also two brothers Roy Terwilliger of this city and William Terwilliger of DeKalb. The Funeral will be held at 9'clock Friday morning from the Healy Chapel, The Rev. Ralph Wakefield officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery, DeKalb. Found October 11, 1999 in the Kendall County Record - Microfilm dated August 19, 1908 -- ler Mis Zilpha Terwilliger was an Aurora visitor Monday. (The Lisbon News).
